Katherine Swartz, vice president of leadership development and community involvement for the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and executive director of COR, was selected to present at the South Carolina Association of Non Profit Organizations (SCANPO) 2011 Annual Conference. The conference, which included a new emerging leaders track for young nonprofit professionals, took place on March 28-30 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Swartz presented a session on effective recruitment and engagement strategies for placing young professionals into positions of leadership with non profits – including how Chambers and non-profits can work collaboratively. Swartz and Blakley Jenkins, membership and community relations manager with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and gsSCENE for Young Professionals, co-presented a session on career issuing facing “Next Gen” young professionals, including the path to executive director, work-life balance and effective professional development resources.
