Verizon Wireless Region President Featured At August 25 Event
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce Information Technology Council (ITC) is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for its 2011 Palmetto Pillar Awards. Jerry Fountain, president of the Carolinas/Tennessee region for Verizon Wireless, will keynote the annual awards banquet held on Thursday, August 25.
Fountain is responsible for the company’s sales, marketing, network operations, finance, administration, and an extensive retail footprint in South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. A 30-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, he has witnessed first-hand the evolution and explosion of wireless in the U.S. and under his leadership, helped Verizon Wireless become the fastest, most advanced 4G network and largest, most reliable 3G network in the U.S.
“The Palmetto Pillar awards have long been a great honor given to professionals and companies using technology in the Greater Columbia region. It is my honor to be a part of this award ceremony to celebrate those who are using technology in innovative ways to better our community,” says Fountain.
The Palmetto Pillar Awards program, started in 2000, honors the area’s top leaders in technology innovation.
