The Columbia Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee met this Tuesday (1.31) at the Columbia Chamber. Fifty two members of the military and business community were present for the meeting.

Military Community Action Team – South Carolina National Guard (SNG)
Dan Hennigan and Col Taylor reviewed the Military Community Action Team – South Carolina National Guard (SNG), Reserve, Active Duty programs/efforts in the community to help reduce our military unemployment rate among our service members from 13% to 0% by December 12. The need is to have Chamber members, local businesses, non-profits, etc. work in a collaborative effort with the SCNG to help employ Service Members and their families.

Hiring our Heroes Veterans Event, Fort Jackson, March 6, 2012, Free Hiring Fair
The Columbia Chamber in conjunction with Fort Jackson, the US Chamber and numerous organizations are hosting a hiring fair at the MG Robert B. Solomon Center for job seekers who are active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members, and eligible spouses. Employers and job seekers must pre-register – currently 52 of the allotted 80 spaces are reserved. A resource room will also be provided for companies/organizations that provide services to help our military families.
