NuHub, the Midlands regional nuclear collaborative, will welcome industry leaders from around the world to Columbia Tuesday for the 2nd Annual Nuclear Energy Insider Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Conference.
More than 300 nuclear industry leaders will gather at the Embassy Suites for the two-day conference focused on SMR’s. The 2nd Annual Small Modular Reactor Conference is the largest global meeting point for SMR executives. The industry led event will feature power generation executives from global utilities from North America, Europe and Asia that are driving forward the SMR industry.
As prelude to the conference, NuHub will hold a breakfast briefing Tuesday featuring Steve Byrne, COO of SCE&G and co-chair for NuHub; Ted Speth, chair of the NuHub SMR committee; Tom Ledbetter of Midlands Technical College Enterprise Campus; Travis Knight of USC’s Nuclear Engineering Program at the College of Engineering and Computing; and Neil McLean, Executive Director for EngenuitySC.
NuHub has recently partnered with NuScale to pursue one of two Department of Energy federal awards to develop the first SMR in South Carolina, and plans to announce an agreement to pursue the award with an additional vendor in the coming days.
NuHub was launched in October 2010 by EngenuitySC as a consortium of public, private, higher education and business development interests sharing a common goal of maximizing the economic and job creation impact of the nuclear renaissance on the Midstate of South Carolina.
