Insurance cluster networking event set for July 24

Are you in the insurance technology and services industry? Then you don’t want to miss iTs|Social from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 at Pearlz Restaurant at 936 Gervais St. in the Vista. iTs|Social is the signature quarterly networking event for iTs|SC: Columbia’s Insurance Technology & Services Cluster.

All professionals in insurance technology and services in the Columbia region are welcome to attend the social from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the restaurant You can RSVP at for the no-cost event.

The iTs|Social on Tuesday will feature the introduction of the iTs|SC 2012-2013 executive committee. Alan Whelchel, assistant vice president for global business technology at Colonial Life, is the 2012-2013 chair.

The Columbia region employs approximately 15,000 insurance technology and services professionals at an average annual salary of $62,000. The industry generates more than $4.9 billion in annual sales with a nearly $6.7 billion total annual economic impact for the state of South Carolina.

Since 2010 iTs|SC has connected more than 200 Columbia insurance technology and services professionals to colleagues from other industry firms and institutions in the area. iTs|SC represents 10 member companies and 5 public institutions in the Columbia insurance technology and services market. Membership is open to any company or organization connected to insurance technology and services.

On September 12, iTs|SC, in partnership with IT-oLogy and Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, will host its second Gartner Local Briefing at IT-oLogy. This year’s theme is “Big Data” and the event will feature case studies by researchers from Gartner and executives from Columbia firms. Additional details will be released in upcoming weeks.

The Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Navigating from Good to Great Foundation work to promote the development of industry clusters in the Columbia region.
