The YMCA of Columbia to Hold Youth Christmas Camps
Children will enjoy rotating through activities such as swimming, playing games, crafts and more each day. Parents should pack lunch, two snacks, a swimsuit and a towel daily.
“The Y is a great place to bring your kids while they are out of school,” said Doug Berkel, Vice President of Youth Development at the YMCA of Columbia. “This is an environment that engages kids in physically active, learning and imaginative activities that emphasize positive values.”
Christmas Camps will be held at the Jeep Rogers at Lake Carolina, NorthWest, Lexington and Orangeburg branches.

Hobby Lobby to Open New Columbia Store
Hobby Lobby Stores, a privately held national retail chain of craft & home decor stores, is set to open a new store in Columbia, SC. Construction is underway on this new 55,000 square-foot building located at Two Notch Road and Fore Avenue.
This is Hobby Lobby’s thirteenth location in South Carolina and third in Columbia, which is projected to open at the beginning of February. The location will bring about 35 – 50 jobs to the community paying $14 per hour for full time and $9.50 per hour for part-time associates.
“We offer a wide and ever-changing variety of craft and home decor products including many exclusive Hobby Lobby brands. First-time shoppers will be pleasantly surprised at the large store size and the exceptional service provided by our trained associates,” stated John Schumacher, Assistant Vice President of Advertising.

When David Green moved his business from the family’s garage to a 300 square foot retail space in 1972, Hobby Lobby was founded. MARILYNN JOYNER APPOINTED TO RICHLAND COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
NAI Avant broker, Marilynn Joyner, has been elected to the Richland County Planning Commission by Richland County Council. Joyner and Greg Lehman, a land-acquisition manager for Ryan Homes, are joining the nine-member planning commission at the beginning of December. The planning commission shapes individual development projects within the county by steering land-use zoning and growth policies. The commission’s recommendations to County Council help serve economic growth and development within the community.
