The members of the Greater Columbia Community Relations Council’s (CRC) 50th Anniversary Planning Committee are pleased to announce a gala to celebrate fifty years of service to the Midlands. This event will be held on Friday, June 27th at the Medallion Conference Center in Columbia, SC.
We are very proud to announce that Congressman James Clyburn and Federal Communications Commissioner Mignon Clyburn will receive the Hyman Rubin Distinguished Service Award. We are equally proud that Dr. Milton Kimpson, CRC’s very first executive director, will receive this year’s Community Service Award.
In addition to bestowing the Hyman Rubin and Community Service Awards, CRC will introduce the Bates-Jones Award in honor of two CRC founders; Lester Bates, former mayor of Columbia and Thomas Jones, former president of the University of South Carolina. This award will recognize a private or public entity that has made philanthropic contributions to the Midlands as well as demonstrated commitment to diversity within its ranks.
CRC is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving the Midlands of South Carolina. Programs offered include public educational forums and deliberative dialogues; mediation of contentious community issues; advocacy programs with particular emphasis on the housing needs of the disabled and low to moderate income individuals; and youth leadership engagement.
You can support CRC’s work by becoming a sponsor of this event by letting us know your desired level of support or if you would just like to purchase tickets to attend.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday, June 27, 2014. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the CRC office at 803 733-1130.
