Chamber FYIs
Chamber representatives attend a variety of meetings each week. These are some noteworthy meetings that might interest our partners: Met with the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services to assist with strategic planning | Worked with City of Columbia staff to plan the Spot Light winner/presentation that will be presented Tuesday at the City Council meeting

A Change of Command
This morning, Fort Jackson said goodbye to Major General Bradley Becker and hello to their new general officer, Brigadier General Roger Cloutier. We at the Chamber wish General Becker the best of luck with all of his future endeavors and look forward to working with General Cloutier.

This Memorial Day week and with the 113th Annual Gala set September 24, we want to remind you that nominations are open with a flashback to one of last year’s winners.

Ask not what your Chamber can do for you…
The Chamber has officially welcomed three new members to our prestigious group of volunteers called the Diplomat Link. Reggie Murphy, Business & Employer Services – SC Works/Central Midlands Council of Governments | Dana Jacobs, Project Manager/Sales – SignItQuick | Mackenzie Taylor, PR/Marketing – Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology.

If you are looking to improve the Chamber, the community and your personal network, contact Lynn Turbeville and find out how you can become a Diplomat!

Leadership Columbia interviews begin…
On Tuesday, Leadership Columbia applications closed and were scored and Wednesday, we began the dubious process of interviews. Good luck to all our leaders who have and will be interviewing.

Honoring the brave…
Thursday, Carpet One was honored for donating flooring to the Building for America’s Bravest Campaign for wounded vets. The program builds homes that are designed to provide maximum accessibility and independence for catastrophically injured veterans and their families. At the end of Memorial Day week, this is just one more nice reminder to not only honor the fallen, but all of our men and women who fight daily for our freedom.

Upcoming Events:
6/1 Issues Forum | 6/6 Ft Jackson Military Night with the Blowfish | 6/9 IT Council Luncheon | 6/16 Hiring Our Heroes
