Chamber representatives attend a variety of meetings each week. These are some noteworthy meetings that might interest our partners: presented the Business Spotlight award to Alala, LLC along with the Angelo McBride, Office of Business Opportunity | Attended the first reading on the Budget Ordinances | Attended discussion on water/sewer for Lower Richland and Council budget proposals
Business License fees
City of Columbia Business License Ad Hoc Committee held their first meeting to begin reviewing the scope of business license fees. The Committee also discussed the scope of extending the business license fees beyond health care into nonprofits, churches, etc. It was determined that additional research should be conducted to guide future discussions. The Chamber will be at each meeting and will keep you apprised of the situation.
The next generation of leaders
On Tuesday, June 9, the Columbia Chamber will graduate 52 new leaders! The 2015 Leadership Columbia Class proved true to their name and led the way with their Shared Streets project, in partnership with Pawmetto Lifeline’s Bark to the Park and with their streetscaping at the Lincoln Street Tunnel.
